System Requirements

  To run the AES Wave Screen Saver Manager for the Snap-on MODIS you will need the following:

•  Snap-on MODIS with CF (Compact Flash) card
•  Snap-on MODIS Grabber software utility (Click to download)
•  AES Wave! software version 1.6.4 or higher (Click to download free 30-day trial)

Program Overview

The AES Wave Screen Saver Manager for the Snap-on MODIS allows for easy access, viewing, and selection of Modis screen captures that have been saved to a compact flash card (CF card) using us the ModisGrabber.  

The first step is to save screens to the CF card in the Modis. Next, transfer the card to your PC and use the AES Wave Screen Saver Manager to view and select screens you wish to keep.

Setting up the ModisGrabber.exe

    1. Download the ModisGrabber here: http://www.aeswave.com/Support/
    2. Using your PC copy ModisGrabber.exe to your compact flash card (CFcard)
    3. Insert the CF card into the top slot of the Modis
    4. Connect a USB mouse to the Modis
    5. Start the Modis (if it is not on already)
    6. Ensure that the Brightness/Contrast popup is NOT open before continuing
    7. Using the Mouse go to the Windows START button on the Task Bar (bottom left corner)
    8. Select /Programs/Windows Explorer
    9. Select Storage Card and a list of the folder contents will be displayed
    10. Double click on Modisgrabber and the ModisGrabber Window will appear
    11. Select Do Screen Capture Using Display button from the ModisGrabber window. A prompt line at the bottom of the window will display "Screen capture mode: make sure CF in top slot" indicating it is in screen capture mode
    12. Do not close the ModisGrabber program
    13. Move the mouse back to the bottom of the screen to display the Task bar and select Modis. The Modis instrument screen will appear
    14. You are ready to capture screens
    15. From within the Modis program press the Brightness/Contrast when viewing a screen you wish to capture. It will be copied to the compact flash card (CF card)
    16. A message will appear indicating the screen has been saved. The file name of the saved screen will be a combination of date and time


    To terminate the ModisGrabber

    1. When finished capturing screens use the mouse to bring up the Task Bar
    2. Select ModisGrabber

Using the AES Wave Screen Saver Manager

    1. First, capture screens using the ModisGrabber
    2. Transfer the CF card from the Modis to the PC
    3. Start the AES Wave
    4. Press <F3> or Select FILE | ACQUIRE… | MODIS WAVE…
      The Modis Wave screen will appear
    5. The next step is to locate the CF card
    6. Select <Browse for Folder> and the Browse for Folder dialog appears
    7. Insure File type filter: is set to Modis BMP (*.BMP)
    8. Next, search for and select the CF card as you would any folder. If there are Modis BMP files in the selected drive they will appear in the Browse for Folder file list.
    9. When the CF card is located select <OK>. (There is no need to select a file from the file list window.)
    10. All list of all BMP files are now listed in the file selection list box. Use the mouse to click on a file to display. Doing so will expand the box for easier viewing of the list.
    11. To select a file to send to the Wave either double click or highlight file and press <ENTER>. A ">" will appear to the left
    12. To de-select just repeat the above process
    13. Once you have selected all of your files select <SEND TO WAVE>
    14. Each screen will appear in the AES Wave
    15. Next, select <Save to Database> to save your screens!

The next time you run the Modis Wave it will automatically check the last location of the CF card.
