Careers Once a technician, always a technician. Perhaps this was once true, but not today. There are many opportunities for technicians to use their unique skills, talents and knowledge in fields related to automotive repair but outside the walls of a traditional shop. Two popular choices for technician's to go into are sales and vocational education. Other choices include corporate and government. How about writing, or the internet, or inventing, or even photography? Yes! Below I have listed a few technicians who have ventured into these areas as part-time and full-time entrepreneurs. Bill Lakow: creator of the book: Lab & Ignition Scope Diagnostics Milt Webb: creator of the book: Tuning Up Autos and Trucks Phil Fournier: creator
of the book: Making the Vehicle to Reach Your Dreams Bruce Koeppen: creator of Point of Sale OBD-II Paul Johnson, now makes his living doing photography. John Forro: creator of the book: Silver Bullets Jerry Truglia: creator
of the "Getting to Know..." series: Brent Black: founder of iATN Mike Herbert: creator of the series of
books on "Mastering Your..." Steven McAfee, creator of the books: Lab Scopes: Intro and Advanced and Smog Refresher Course Jorge Menchu: founder of AES. I hope you get the chance to meet some of these risk-takers and use them as an inspiration to launch yourself into a new world. In the meantime they have something they would like you to buy.
