Trade show weekend
In conjunction with Technician Service Training (TST) Jorge Menchu
will present his seminar “Advanced Wiring Diagram Analysis”
at 4 locations in the northeast from June 1 to 4.
In this seminar, Jorge will identify
the basic elements, structures, and rules that define automotive
electrical systems and combine analytical methods with your
understanding of the basic elements and color-coding techniques to
master the most complex wiring diagrams.
Advanced wiring diagram analysis is
about going beyond the obvious and delving into the psychology of the
diagram. You will learn how to quickly recognize what you need to know
in a diagram—It’s all about having the ability to quickly find the
information you need for an accurate diagnosis and to discover the
purposes and reasoning for the system design.

Product Spotlight
Software: AutoEnginuity has released v7.2.1.
This new release is required for use with the new ProLine connector.
Hardware: To accommodate the demands of broader and
deeper coverage along with increased data rates AE added a new connector named the ProLine (st06).
The new ProLine connector currently only works with BMW
/ MINI, Porsche, Mercedes and GM-single wire CAN. AE plans to
port all other coverage to the new ProLine
connector late this year.
Eventually, the existing AE-enhanced connector you currently use
with Asian and Domestics will be obsolete as the software continues to
evolve. This may happen as soon as Sept
2009.
However, as we understand it, if you do not install
an update after Sept 2009, you may continue to use the existing AE-enhanced connector.
If you have any
questions let me know.

Where do these come
from?
Counterfeit IDS VCM
Counterfeit VCM's have been sold in the US, they not only cause
problem for Motorcraft but may cause you problems if you are unlucky
enough to have one.
From the MotorCraft Service website:
Why you should care about counterfeit VCM's?
Counterfeit VCM's have been found to be of low quality,
reliability and performance. They are not tested and certified by
globally recognized safety and test organizations such as
Underwriters Laboratories and IEC-CE. Counterfeit VCM's pose a possible safety hazard to the technician
and the vehicles they service. Counterfeit VCM's are not supported
by the Ford TIS Hotline and are not eligible for repair or
replacement.

So why didn't you and I think of this one? I
mean, really! The idea of a portable power supply and circuit
tester falls into the same category with hair gel and bottled
water. Simple-but-effective is sometimes easy to overlook. But
simple functionality has made the Power Probe a perennial
sales leader.

Ford Electronic Transmission Strategies and
Diagnosis
May 27, 2009 Fresno, CA
Click here for details and registration.
Gain an understanding of the various
electronic transmission control systems components, and how they
interface.
Emphasis is on:
E40D (4R100), 4R70W (AODE), 5R55E, AX4N, and AX4S transmissions. These
are the majority of the Ford transmissions that are currently showing
up in your shop needing diagnosis. Any tech with an understanding of
basic electrical and electronic principles will be able to diagnose
electronics failures on these and other transmissions at the conclusion
of this class. No need anymore for any shop to turn away
this type of highly profitable work. System strategies, operating
parameters, and diagnostic tips and shortcuts will be discussed.
Course notebook and handouts are included.
