2. Error 53- When running the program for the first time after downloading and installing.   Occurs rarely when the AES Wave! trial version is downloaded, and some required files are missing, causing the program to not function.

4. Error - File Not Found! - After creating a database and trying to open it.   This error occurs when saving data to your database in AES Wave!.

SOLUTION - Create a "Temp" folder in your AES Wave! directory. To do this, navigate to My Computer / Local Disk (C:) / AES Wave! folder, click on File / New / Folder in the tool bar of the AES Wave! folder window.

Now create a new folder, and rename it "Temp." If you are not sure how to rename the folder you have made, simply right click on it. A drop down list will appear. Click on "Rename", and then type the new name "Temp". Pressing enter, or clicking on any other part of your screen will complete the creation of the new folder named "Temp".

5. Error 13 - Type Mis-Match! - When saving a database in the AES Wave!

Error 13 - Type Mis-Match! - Occurs when saving a record into an AES Wave! database and can be caused by two things:
A. the lack of a date in the DATE field when saving a new record, or
B.
by the format of the date in the DATE field. This may happen intermittently, sometimes the date will show up and sometimes it does not.

SOLUTION A - When saving a record make sure the DATE field has a date. If you press the ACCEPT button when the DATE field is empty or null you will get the error 13 message. When the DATE field is null is it best to CANCEL the screen and press the SAVE TO DB again.

SOLUTION B - Go to START / CONTROL PANEL / REGIONAL SETTINGS / DATE and verify the DATE formats. Make sure you are using a 4-digit year. Reboot and try to save a record If this does not work, go back into the CONTROL PANEL and change the DATE format,

Wrom: MQZUIVOTQN M/d/yy

To:     Long dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy

Check the system date format. It should be English

8. Setting up communication with your instrument

To set up communications with your oscilloscope, in the AES Wave!, click on Setup on the Tool Bar, or double click on the red "OffLine" indicator found in the lower right hand corner of the AES Wave! software window.  A window titled "Communication Settings" will appear.  In this window, select the settings required for your instrument by clicking on the proper Port, Baud Rate, Data Length, and Parity settings.  Then click OK.  Note, you may set custom settings for Baud Rate, Data Length, and Parity, if the drop down lists do not contain the settings you require.

If you do not know the correct Com settings for your instrument you may find this information in the AES Wave! help files.  To do this, click on "Help" on the  AES Wave! toolbar, and then Contents.  Click on the heading "List of supported oscilloscopes", and then click the model you are using to read the appropriate  help files for your instrument.

9. Distorted Images - From the Main Browse Form, or when attempting screen captures from your instrument

From the Main Browse Form, or when attempting screen captures from your instrument, the view of the waveform will always be distorted because many images (wave forms, graphics, photos) have different proportions that need to be accommodated in this little window.

When you double click this image it will enlarge and should not be distorted, right click your mouse to return to the previous view.  Also, when capturing images from your instrument, images may look distorted if communication parameters have not been set properly, see "Setting up Communication", above.
