This tool combines a powerful lab scope with a most useful and quick to use scan tool functions with a GMM and DSO.
Do you need a lab scope? Automotive On-board diagnostic systems of these days have gone a long way toward helping you locate a problem. But those systems aren't perfect and they don't cover everything (most glitches and intermittents). So the real challenge that befuddles most automotive technicians is diagnosing "no-code" trouble.
On-board diagnostic systems are engineered with fairly wide set limits for sensors, actuators, connectors and terminals. When a component exceeds its limit consistently, a trouble code is generated. But to keep warranty costs in line, tolerances aren't set to catch all transients, even though they can cause some of your worst headaches. As a result, technicians are finding more and more uses for the oscilloscope - next to the multimeter, the most common troubleshooting tool.
1. Use the DSO to capture a live “signature” of a circuit. 2. Use the GMM (Graphing Multimeter) to graph trends in the signal. 3. Use the Code Reader for quick code checks and I/M Readiness Status to confirm repairs.
The UEI ADL7103 Automotive Scope/GMM/OBD II Code Reader is the one unit that lets you perform all three steps.
• A 25 Mega-sample/Second (one channel minimum) sample rate. • Lab scope signal patterns. The scope has preset sensor waveforms with screen settings and a full auto mode that will select the best sweep rate and vertical scale. • True RMS Graphing Multimeter (GMM) measurements and graphs. • OBD II Code Reader function. • A unique "Glitch Snare" mode which captures, displays and optionally saves abnormal signal patterns in the Scope mode of the COMPONENT TESTS only when they occur. • Preset tests that enable the user to check the majority of automotive sensors, actuators and systems easily and quickly. • Powerful built-in reference information for each preset test which includes a test procedure showing how to connect to the circuit, a normal reference signal pattern, theory of operation and troubleshooting tips. • Menu-driven interface has automatic configurations for most of non-preset tests, so you will find that the instrument is easy-to-use. • The Secondary Ignition Single function displays the waveform along with the spark voltage, RPM, burn time and burn voltage. • Parade pattern on secondary ignition “Parade” mode • Built in ‘Help’ includes test procedure showing how to connect to the circuit, a sample of the expected waveform, theory of operation and troubleshooting tips • The user then can adjust to view specific portions of the waveform. It has the ability to move the waveform left to right (10% to 90% location for the trigger), as well as full screen vertically.
Scope Mode • Sample rate 25 Meg/second • Voltage and Time cursors on each channel • 48 Pre-set waveforms that include sensor, actuator, electrical and ignition patterns • DC to 5 MHz Bandwidth • Sweep rate 1µS to 50 seconds in the scope mode • Accuracy: +/-(01.% + 1 pixel) • Bandwidth: DC to 5MHz • Resolution: 8 bit • Channels: two • Coupling: AC, DC and GND • Input Impedance: 1M ohm • Input 50mV ~100V per division, max input 600V • “Glitch Snare” mode captures, displays and optionally saves abnormal signal patterns in Scope or Component Test modes
Graphing Multimeter Mode • TRMS Graphing Multimeter • 5 seconds to 24 hour sweep rate • AC / DC Volts • Ohms, Continuity, Diodes • Frequency, Duty Cycle, Dwell • Ignition Peak and Burn Volts, Ignition Burn Time • Amps (with optional adapter) • Temperature (with optional adapter)
OBDII Code Reader • Active and Pending Codes • Generic and Manufacture Specific Definitions (GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota and Honda) • I/M Readiness Monitor Status Indication • Erase DTC’s (diagnostic trouble codes) and reset MIL capability • USB Interface easily supports future updates (software sold seperately) • NOTE: This unit is not CAN compatible! • NOTE: This unit is not CAN compatible!
