Description

Use the AES Secondary Lead with both analog and digital scopes to view waveforms one cylinder at a time on these systems:
- Conventional ignition systems
- Coil-in-cap (GM HEI, Toyota, Honda, Nippondenso, etc.)
- DIS (EI)

The lead features a chrome plated, spring-loaded T-clamp that opens wide and tightly grips the thickest cables for testing during high rpms and road tests.  Clamp close to the spark plug to get the best signal.

For superimposed and parade patterns attach the AES Secondary Lead to a coil cap or use with additional adapters and a 'synch probe'. COP and DIS systems require specialized test leads also available from AESwave.

To protect from possible high-voltage arcs the lead includes a high-quality gator clip with a large jaw for grounding.

The AES Secondary Lead is designed to withstand automotive environments:
- Shielded from tip-to-tip for maximum noise immunity
- Heat resistant
- Flexible
- Small enough to easily pass under hoods and through windows for road testing.

Each lead is constructed using quality shielded cable and connectors. They are insulation and resistance tested to ensure that they are of the highest possible quality. Each test lead features high quality BNC connectors or banana-plugs.

The AES Secondary Lead is attenuated 1,000:1, this means that each 1V dipslayed on your scope represents 1000V in the secondary.

Scope Setup
General instructions for setting your scope to display a secondary signal are included with the test lead.

Test Lead Configuration
The AES Secondary Pickup Lead is 6-ft long.
Connection to scope: The test lead is configured with either BNC or banana plugs for connecting to your scope (tell us which connector you need when placing your order). For scopes with banana plug inputs, the lead's ground banana plug is stackable to allowing other channels to access the scope's ground when using multiple channels.
Connection to vehicle: The test lead has two connections to make on the vehicle: Large gator to vehicle ground and T-clamp to plug wire or cap for signal.

Characteristics of the AES Secondary Pickup (Capacitive) Test Lead (AES# 01-12-xxx):
Attentuation*: 1000:1 (For the Fluke 98/98-2 attenuation set to 10,000:1)
Connector at Scope**: Available with Banana Plugs, BNC, BNC Fluke-style, BNC insulated
Cable: RG58, shielded
Color: Black
Length: 6-ft (ask about custom lengths)
Connector(s) at vehicle: Signal: Chrome plated, spring-loaded T-clamp
Ground: Stainless steel Gator with large Jaw

* Most scopes use a 1000:1 attentuation. 1V displayed on your scope represents 1000V in the secondary.
The Fluke 98 and 98-series 2 ScopeMeters are attenuated at 10,000:1. Other Fluke scopes are 1000:1.
