That is correct and it is built this way for that extact purpose. Wireless for diagnostics, hardwired for programming.

So if I'm reading this correctly, the mongoose bt unit is Bluetooth and has the cable? I ask as I need a wired unit for reprogramming and I would like the ability to be untethered from the car during normal diagnosis
