ADAS Demonstration - Camera Object Detection Classification and Radar
Scott Brown peels back the ADAS "curtain" to show us what gets detected and tracked by a camera and a radar.
The systems used in this demonstration are simplied versions of the ones used on todays vehicles.
The camera demo shows object detection and classification and confidence level. Notice how the system detects an object that it first classifies as "Car" with a 55.8% confidence level, and as more of the object comes into the view its classification changes to "Truck" with an increased level of confidence. Bozo the clown is only classified after association with a moving object, even then it only gets a 72%.
The millimeter wave radar demonstration shows the different criteria used to track objects: distance from detector, distance relative to center, strength of signal return, and closing speed (doppler).
