A 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser continually sets a P0172 (rich condition bank one). There are no other codes. When trying to start you must hold the throttle wide open or you will fuel foul the spark plugs. Once it finally starts running, the vehicle will stumble, yet, it can be driven if kept above about 1200 rpm. If you let it idle it will blubber down and try to stall. A tremendous amount of work by several shops has been performed on this vehicle to no avail. For this case study, Adam Robertson, instructor for the CARQUEST Technical Institute, Western United States, uses the QTT of outputs to develop a diagnostic direction that results in a surprising diagnosis.
