In-Cylinder pressure testing helps technicians solve a variety of engine mechanical/driveability problems quickly and accurately. With one quick look you can diagnose hard to identify issues using the in-cylinder procedure.

We will cover necessary fundamentals and tooling, but the focus of this class is on in-cylinder pressure signal interpretation and how to identify the problems listed below:

• Exhaust path restrictions
• Intake path restrictions
• Worn cam lobes/lifters
• Broken valve springs
• Cam and crank relationship issues
• Correct ignition timing
• Scored cylinder walls / cylinder leakage
• Incorrect CAM timing

The key benefit of this class is seeing exactly how to interpret and understand the test results provided by the in-cylinder pressure transducer.

The in-cylinder procedure is an excellent way to identify mechanical problems, and technicians with this testing skill in their back pocket will diagnose & fix vehicles faster. Shop owners will then save hours of diagnostic/R&R time while selling the repair job accurately at their shop.
