F-15 ridealong out of Fresno Airport with the 144th Fighter Wing

If you call AESwave and hear a loud roar in the background, it might be an F-15 taking off or doing a flyby. The 144th Fighter Wing of the California Air National Guard Base is stationed here at the Fresno airport and on April 1, 2016, a lucky news reporter took a ride, see the first video below.

At the beginning of the video you can see AES's old building off to the right. I can still smell the jet exhaust as they sit on the runaway waiting to take off.

As the F-15 jet takes off towards the east, you can see an assortment of buildings off to the left. We are now located in there. At 4:30pm today they will play reveille over their speakers, they do this every day.

At our current location the roar of the jets is more of purr compared to our old location. At our old building, the roar was deafening whenever the F-16s took off, but it was loudest when they would often fly over our building at about 200-300-ft while banking hard right. We could see the pilots profile through the cockpit as the garage doors rattled and car alarms sounded. LOUD!

The F4 Phantoms stationed here in the 1980's were replaced by F-16 Falcons in the 1990's. In 2013, the twin engine F-15 came to Fresno. Occasionally, F-18s make an appearance at the base.
