This class builds a practical understanding of generic scan data fundamentals — what it is and how to use it to guide your diagnostic process. The goal is to help technicians improve scan tool navigation and PID selection so they can make valuable diagnostic decisions early in the process.
Topics Covered will Include:
• Understanding generic scan data, how to navigate to it on your scan tool, and its limitations.
• Interpreting core PIDs and understanding exactly what those values represent.
• Grouping PIDs based on symptoms/customer complaints.
• Common trouble codes will be discussed along with how to approach problems using examples from both good and bad vehicles.
• How building a solid foundation with generic scan data helps techs better understand enhanced scan data.
By the end of this session, technicians will have a reliable starting point for diagnosing driveability issues and a strong grasp of generic scan data capabilities.
