Fuel issues can be challenging and hard to identify, John Thornton's "Diagnosing Fuel Related DriveabilityProblems with Scan Data" is a comprehensive program that will enhance your diagnostic skills.

This training program provides a plan for diagnosing fuel related problems using scan data and a few basic tools. The video begins with two fundamental and important steps which are making sure you can trust that your PCM fuel inputs are functioning properly and a simple way for verifying proper fuel delivery.

Using a case study approach, John presents a variety of diagnostic techniques to guide you through testing O2 sensors, interpreting fuel trims, identifying and finding vacuum leaks, false air issues and air flow measurement problems.

He also covers bank to bank fuel trim imbalances including why they exist, what causes them, and how to find them. This video contains case studies for Ford and GM, but the principles apply to all gasoline engines.

These tools are used throughout the video: Ford IDS, GM Tech 2, GM GDS2, Toyota Techstream, EScan Pro, and the Smoke Machine.
