The new PicoBNC+ NVH probes introduce a game-changing capacity to simultaneously
capture all three outputs from the triaxial (fore-aft, lateral, and vertical) accelerometer on one
PicoScope channel. In addition, technicians have the option to switch between the probe’s
axis modes within the software without changing probe connections. This reduces the
channels needed for all 3 axes of one accelerometer from three to one, which increases the
tool’s measurement flexibility and the diagnostic test scenarios to which it can be applied.
This ability to multiplex multiple signals through a single scope channel is only possible with
the PicoBNC+ interface, which is why the new system is not available in BNC format.
Each new PicoBNC+ NVH probe requires only one connection directly into any PicoBNC+
Automotive Scope without the need for the NVH Interface, eliminating batteries. There is a new PicoBNC+ extension
lead that can be used with the microphone and accelerometer.

Features
Faster set-up. Fewer test cycles. Better results.
Every vibration has a frequency. That frequency tells you the source. The software does the matching — you get a straight answer.

Twelve axes:  Four corners, one test
Each three-axis accelerometer captures fore-aft, lateral, and vertical vibration through a single PicoScope channel. Four accelerometers on a four-channel scope covers every corner of the vehicle in one road test. Previously, this required multiple passes with reconfiguration between each.

Simple connection: Easy setup
The PicoBNC+ NVH setup from Pico requires no additional leads or boxes. Simply plug the lead into one of the BNC+ ports of the PicoScope osilloscope and you're ready to test.

Zero config: Plug in, start testing
PicoBNC+ automatic probe recognition means the software identifies each probe on connection and applies correct settings. No manual entry of probe type or sensitivity values. One less step to get wrong, one fewer source of unreliable results.

No battery: Always ready
PicoBNC+ NVH probes are battery-free. No dead CR123 cells before a road test. No replacement stock to manage. No servicing downtime. The probe is ready when you are.

No registration: No activation codes
Use straight out of the box with any automotive PicoBNC+ PicoScope.

Speed and RPM measurements can be added to the analysis, additional hardware required and sold separately.

The NVH Diagnostic STARTER Kit provides you with the hardware needed to your use PicoScope for Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) analysis. If your customer can feel it or hear it, you can find it:
• Cabin vibrations at speed
• Engine vibrations throughout the entire rev range
• Clutch judder/vibration
• Transmission and bearing whine
• Auxiliary drive noise
• Brake judder
• Steering vibrations

Analysis files can be recorded for playback, saved for future reference, and printed to help explain the diagnosis and repair to your customer.

Requirements to run Pico NVH
The NVH interface unit connects to your Automotive PicoScope (sold separately) via a BNC cable and uses the free PicoDiagnostics NVH software.

Required hardware: 4-channel PicoScope 4225A or 4425A Picoscope only

Required software: Windows 11 and 10 (all 64-bit only)

Optional hardware for live RPM readings:
- J2534 Scan Tool or VCI (not included) or Elm327.
- Synch probe such as the Inductive Pickup Probe.
The software also lets you enter a static RPM.

Using the Pico NVH to identify and solve a driveline vibration on a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 with a 4.3L VIN W

John D. Kelly at Weber State University (WSU) - Automotive Technology Department recorded this excellent demonstration of the PicoScope NVH Diagnostic Kit to find three types of vibrations (T1, E1, P1) on a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
