The PQ184 8-Channel Professional Diagnostic Kit includes the PicoScope 4823, a high-resolution, 8-channel automotive oscilloscope that features a common-ground configuration, a maximum input range of 50V (protected to 100V), and a maximum sample rate of 80MS/s (10MS/s if using all 8 channels).

The PicoScope 4823 is a low-cost, portable solution for multi-input applications. With 8 high-resolution, high-speed analog channels you have a perfect solution for a range of diagnostic needs such as:

  • V6/V8 Cam timing (4/6 cams plus crank, and sometimes a WPS), and VVT timing systems.
  • Trucks, construction and agriculture equipment that typically requires a mix of electrical and hydraulic measurements on multiple valves simultaneously to diagnose problems with system interaction.
  • Full system diagnosis on components (including power, ground, signals, current)
  • Diagnosing faults on multiple serial busses (CAN, CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay)

The 256 MS deep memory allows several seconds of capture at the full sampling rate (ideal for long captures of serial data or looking for glitches). Managing all this data calls for some powerful tools which are built into PicoScope software: zoom factors of several million are possible, waveform buffer, mask limit test, serial decode, hardware acceleration, deep memory making the PicoScope 4823 one of the most powerful diagnostic oscilloscopes on the market.

The performance of the PicoScope will be better with a more powerful PC, and will benefit from a multi-core processor.

PicoScope is suitable for use with any modern vehicle

The Pico Automotive Diagnostics Kit can be used to measure and test virtually all of the electrical and electronic components and circuits in any modern vehicle including:

- Injectors and fuel pumps
- Starter and charging circuits
- Batteries, alternators and starter motors
- Lamda, Airflow, knock and MAP sensors

Educators will also benefit from using the PicoScope because it allows an entire classroom to see live vehicle waveforms when you have your PC hooked to an LCD projector.

 

Waveform Library

One of our most popular features of the PicoScope is the Waveform Library, you can search a global data base of waveforms uploaded by PicoScope users from around the world.

 

To access the Waveform Library you must have an automotive scope connected to your PC and have a valid user name and password to the Pico Automotive Forum.

 
Once logged into the Waveform Library Browser you will find numerous “Search Options” allowing you to locate a relevant waveform for a specific manufacturer or model. You can also search for a waveform using just the engine code, allowing you to locate a waveform that may not have been saved under your search entry, but is applicable to other models or manufacturers using that engine.

 

 


The ConnectDetect icons remain on screen briefly once a good connection has been established, and then become transparent to prevent obscuring the waveform under review. Should the connection be lost during a capture, the relevant icons will return in bold to warn of a connection problem.
